Alexa, Can You Help Me Expand My Vocabulary?

My students need engaging center activity supplies to expand their vocabulary and interest in Reading and Language Arts. The Echo with Alexa feature will be used to help students during read alouds and independent work.

My Students

I love the question "what makes your students special" knowing that EVERYTHING is not the best answer but it is most certainly true. My students are eager to learn and want to do their best daily. Their confidence is contagious and they make teaching the best job around.

I teach at a Title I school with diverse students from all walks of life.

Many of the students receive free/reduced lunch and also receive "backpack buddies" which provides them with food and snacks for the weekend. Despite the challenges they may face, my students come to school ready to do their very best.

My Project

Everyone has heard of the all-around helper, Alexa, but how can she be used in the classroom? The answer is many ways. I have asked for an Echo with the Alexa feature to help my students during independent center activities. Alexa will be available to help my students with definitions, reading a story, or simply helping them spell a word while I am working with other students in the room. It will also allow me to introduce a different form of technology to my students.

I am asking for supplies that will take learning and reading to the next level!

The Jenga blocks will be used during Reading and Language arts as a spelling review, vocabulary review, or a simple skill review. Jenga can make any lesson into a game which allows my students to have fun while learning.

The spin wheel will also be used to review vocabulary words, spelling words, or skill review. My students will have a hands-on experience spinning the wheel and be actively engaged in the lesson. All of the supplies allow me to take learning to another level for my students, all while expanding their vocabulary and having fun in the classroom. I believe these 3 supplies can make a huge difference in our Reading and Language Arts lessons.
