This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

If you were to peek into my room on a given day, you would see students working together and laughing as they learn. Though students come to kindergarten at different learning levels, they are all able to help each other to be their best and have fun doing it. My students love anything hands-on and interactive. My students come to school every day eager to learn and grow.

Our school serves TK-8 students in Oakland, CA as they learn and grow.

These students show hard work and grit coming to school and being ready for new challenges every day in a safe learning environment. There is not always enough to go around to help them on their journey to the next grade and beyond. As their teacher, I hope that I can help them to be their best and reach all of their goals and serve the whole child.

My Project

My students are loving routine! We are entering a new age of teaching where we are balancing technology with social connection. In kindergarten, students love structure and routine. They also love dance and movement. I love having technology help us work smarter not harder.

Giving my students the gift of an Amazon Alexa in our classroom will give us more fun, structure, and allow me to set us up for hands free success!

The Alexa will be able to play specific playlists for different times of the day (i.e. morning calm, writing music, etc.) The Alexa can be pre-programmed to remind us it is time to transition to another activity with specific sounds. The Alexa can help us answer questions about wonderings, weather, and other fun facts throughout our day. I can plug lights and devices into certain spots to better serve my students and I can access them with my voice, or students can too! The combinations are endless. I am excited to bring this small speaker and wealth of possibilities into my space!
