I teach 6th/7th grade math and we are in need of fully-functioning calculators. Students are allowed to use calculators on state testing. However, they do not get to practice because the calculators we have do not work correctly and cause frustration. Here are some of the problems that exist with our current inventory: the keys don't work properly, calculator doesn't turn on (even after batteries are replaced), memory won't clear, etc. 6th grade need the 4-function calculators. 7th grade need the TI-30XS MutliView calculators. Purchase of these calculators will increase the students' confidence in using technology in mathematical calculations in class which will transfer to improved state testing and lifelong skills.
