Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In this Alebrijes art project, students will created their own fantastical animal figurines, inspired by the colorful and imaginative world of traditional Mexican Alebrijes. These figurines, known for their vibrant colors and surreal combinations of animals, will be brought to life through lines and shapes.
Students will begin by drawing unique creatures, using bold lines to define the body and intricate details.
They will use a variety of shapes—such as circles, triangles, and swirls—to create the animal's features like wings, scales, or horns. Once the designs were complete, the students will add bright, contrasting colors to make beautiful frames and enhance the lively, dream-like qualities of their Alebrijes.
This project will allow students to explore their creativity, while learning TEXTURE and how lines and shapes come together to form complex and imaginative artworks. It also introduced them to an important part of Mexican folk art.
The main supplies students will be using for this project are color pencils, and markers to create the beautiful texture of the Alebrijes, lines and shapes is the main elements of art they will be applying. The glue will be used for sticking the alebrije they created on paper on a nice colorful piece of cardstock. With the model magic students will be making 3D alebrijes and decorating them with puffy paint.
