My students need a variety of 5 Science materials to explore the world in which they live, including 2 Science Kits, 2 Games and a 5 Senses Discovery Center.
As a teacher, I face the challenge of meeting state mandates in reading, math, and science. I realize that children best learn with hands-on experiences. My students are in need of a science center where they can explore using the five senses and have an opportunity to be the next Albert Einstein.
I teach in a community where people want the best education for their children.
It is a rural community in Oklahoma made up of families who struggle to make ends meet and have a difficulty providing for even the basic of needs. The kids I teach, are typical four and five year olds, who just want to have fun and learn about their world.
My Project
By providing the classroom with these science kits, games and science center my children would be able to explore a world far bigger than the one in which they live. My classroom would not just be a classroom. In their little minds, the classroom would become the outdoors with bug investigating. It would become a laboratory investigating how simple machines work. It would be a place to see what will sink/float and what are attracted to magnets.
These materials will be at the disposal of each child everyday. They will learn to investigate using their five senses. They will begin to understand how things are made. The world will come alive as they investigate bugs and magnets and everything in between. I believe their excitement for all things science would come alive. Can you see it? The future looks bright to me. I know I envision those little hands manipulating those materials trying to figure out how things work.
If this project were to get funded, these cute four and five year olds would be provided with materials that could potentially create future scientists.
As a teacher, my goal is to provide children with a variety of materials that will inspire, build, and grow the future. With your help, these materials will do just that. I want my kids to be totally inspired and want their hands and feet to reach far beyond the highways and byways of rural Oklahoma.
