The books that I have requested are for fostering my students' love for learning! We will explore the different holidays at different times of the year as they come by. We will do book studies. We will also learn to expand our sense of worldview by reading multicultural books, and comparing/contrasting our Alaska Native culture to other cultures. We live on a remote island in Alaska, and the nearest hub is Nome. Oftentimes, students don't travel anywhere except Gambell and Nome. These books will help students gain their schemas of holidays, people, and places beyond St. Lawrence Island.
