My Project
AKMA is a charter high school in FL. Like everywhere else we have students who are experiencing team activities and some are experiencing in person education for the first time in several years, due to covid. In Bay County Covid hit us just as we were beginning to recover from Hurricane Michael which was a category 5 hurricane that nearly destroyed the entire area in 2018. So, our students are really benefitting from the social interactions of being in school and being part of a team.
AKMA Manhunters will be competing in the FIRST Tech Challenge this year, and we need your help.
In addition, we have a club for 8th graders who are interested in robotics. They will be competing in the Lego League from FIRST. Our school has recently gone through a 100% staffing change and is reestablishing itself. As we do, we are looking for a little help providing our students with the best materials and equipment possible.
Our robotics team is competing in a league that requires REV Robotics, and GOBilda products. The middle school club requires LEGO Education products. Meanwhile the Florida State standards for robotics education require that we have VEX V5 robots for the students. Our robotics class is currently 13 students, next semester we hope to add another dozen or more.
We could really use some help to get the robots and other equipment as well as general classroom needs to provide the best program possible to our students. We hope that we will find donors who are willing and able to support the future success of our wonderful teens.
