Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are the definition of high needs. In our school, 25% of our students are homeless and 80% receive free or reduced-price lunch. My students live in a primarily Hispanic community and often are not exposed to the city outside of their neighborhood. Coming from Spanish-speaking homes, students struggle in literacy in both languages. Our high school serves as a community gathering place in the neighborhood and it brings a lot of pride to the community. My students bring so much joy to my day and truly work hard!
My Project
My students are going into hardcore test prep season. When asked what they want for the reward, the resounding answer was Air Pods.
Students are going to test prep for a month leading up to their state tests.
With a sweet reward, students will kick it into HIGH gear in order to get their most coveted item Air Pods. Students will engage in higher level test prep in a class competition. I will track their scores on a leader board to see who is advancing.
I have four classes and I'm asking for four sets of Air Pods as rewards for their hard work.
