Airbrush and Special Effect Prosthetic Tools

My students need professional airbrush tools such as a compressor, airbrush set, and airbrush colors, to paint their hand crafted models. They also need plaster bandages to make alginate molds and create special effect prosthetics.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing!!! Many of them however, have challenging lives. Many are latch key kids, from single parent homes. I have mostly students who are on free or reduced lunch. Some of my students have to move out of their parents house early, and live homeless while going to school. They come from a district whose turn over is extremely high (most of the teachers since I have been here have gone out to other districts or teaching jobs, or retirement).

Yet these students and faculty members are extremely good-hearted!

Our school is known for being polite at mixed school occasions (sports and meets), even though most of the state considers our district and region to be a dangerous, poor, and pitiful. I disagree vehemently. Ogden Utah is Amazing! Our diversity makes us stronger!

Unfortunately some of our students will sometimes get down about the "ghetto" supplies and facilities we have to offer. That is why I would like to say "Look, these Donors choose Ogden."

My Project

Students create Vacuformed Models and Stage Design Replicas that need careful painting, but sometimes a brush just can't give that professional look.

By using the airbrush, airbrush set, and airbrush colors, students can raise the level of their professionalism and take their projects to a professional level, using these crafts as future works of art for their resumes.

The Plaster Bandages will allow students to complete alginate molds of hands and faces to create professional level prosthetics for the stage and film.

By using professional tools and techniques my students will be prepared to work professionally in theatre and film as special effects artists. They will also be able to take the skills and techniques with them into other trades and crafts.
