This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title I school, and over 90% of students at my school qualify for free and reduced lunch. The majority of the students I teach are Hispanic / Latino, and African/American. I currently have three students who are newcomers to this country and who do not speak any English.

Of course, my students are not just demographics, they are also children who have been away from in-person learning for over a year and who have missed out on important friendships and social experiences.

Keeping them safely in school is essential for their well-being, not just academically but socially as well.

Lost instructional time is, of course, also a concern. I hope that this request helps these already-struggling students from falling further behind.

My Project

The product I have selected will ensure a safe classroom environment and enhance students' feelings of well-being. Especially now, students and families should feel confident that teachers are doing everything possible to ensure that students are kept safe and healthy. When students don't feel safe, they are are unable to learn effectively. Also, when they are sick, they miss essential instructional time as well as important social interaction. This product will increase students' feelings of safety and also decrease the risk that students may become ill and miss instructional time.
