My students need 3 pencil sharpeners that work! It would also be wonderful to have American made pencils to give to the students when they need a new pencil. Who doesn't like a brand new freshly sharpened pencil?

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kids are a wonderful bunch of seventh grade inner city kids who all deserve the chance to succeed.
Unfortunately, there are many obstacles in their path... poverty, broken homes, violence, and frustration to name a few. We are a group that would like nothing more than to do well!
Teachers struggle daily to supplement the curriculum with relevant materials that connect the classroom to the students' lives. At this time of year, between the NCLB testing obligations and the stress of everyday life we could all use a "pick me up". We are in need the of basic supplies that would make our classroom more conducive to a happy learning environment.
One of the solutions in order to help my students stay focused on their work and alleviate some of their stress is to have adequate supplies on hand. In order to be prepared for math one must have a pencil that is sharp and close at hand. In order to keep my students prepared to do their daily math tasks we need to have an electric pencil sharpener and brand new pencils in order to help us have one less obstacle in achieving our goal of doing well.
