My Project

Finding peace and tranquility to start the school day through meditation and yoga will have positive impact on student engagements and academic growth.

Students from 1st grade-4th grade will be invited to join the "AHA" Peace and Tranquility Yoga Club.

Using the yoga mats and props will give students confidence and flexibility to participate in yoga and meditation. For the last 2 years I been doing 5-10 minutes SEL meditation and yoga sessions with my students. These sessions set inclusion and calmness and prepared students for a day of learning.

As mention in Harvard Health Publishing "Yoga and mindfulness have been shown to improve both physical and mental health in school-age children (ages 6 to 12). Yoga improves balance, strength, endurance, and aerobic capacity in children. Yoga and mindfulness offer psychological benefits for children as well. A growing body of research has already shown that yoga can improve focus, memory, self-esteem, academic performance, and classroom behavior, and can even reduce anxiety and stress in children.” Creating the "AHA" Peace and Tranquility Yoga Club will give my students full access to enhance social emotional and academically.
