My Students

My students are hard-working scholars who have opted to take my Advanced Placement Statistics course. These students in our college-preparatory public high school located in Harlem plan to attend and graduate from college (most of them as the first generation in their family to do so) and pursue a career in medicine, engineering, business, psychology, criminology, social work, teaching, and more.

These students have big plans for their own lives and refuse to let their zip code dictate the trajectory of their lives.

They realize that education is their key to a better life, and they are willing to prioritize their education. Although in most cases, my students' family situations are currently challenging and they are living well below the poverty level. They realize that a solid education is a key to financial independence and career success.

My Project

The students who have opted to take this rigorous class want to challenge themselves. For most of them, this is the first college-level course that they have attempted while in high school. The assignments in this course are much more frequent and lengthy than these students have become used to in their high school level coursework. Several of the students have mentioned that it would be helpful to have academic planners to keep their assignments organized. I thought this was a great suggestion.

Time management is an essential skill to develop in order to become successful; my students are beginning to figure this out.

I'd love to provide them with the planners that they desire and that will help them to stay on task and meet deadlines.

The hand sanitizer will keep us all germ-free in the upcoming flu season. We have no time to be sick since we have a lot to accomplish together! The staples and copy paper will help to replenish supplies that are running low again - we produce a lot of work in here!
