Age Appropriate Materials

My students need 11 materials such as bean bags, books, puzzles, and a rug that are age appropriate for kindergarten.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. A.'s classroom raised $591

This project is fully funded

Children grow up to quickly these days. I am a second year kindergarten teacher. I teach at a neighborhood school in an area where the poverty rate is very high.

The teacher who was in my room before me left to take a position in another school within the district. When she left she took a number of items from the classroom with her. Throughout the last two years I have been working on building an age appropriate classroom for my students. I have realized that I am unable to do this alone. The materials that I have received came from the upper grades in the building and are not the best materials or the most age appropriate materials to enhance my students learning.

The resources that I have asked for would be a great help to my students in kindergarten. Many of my students come in with very little understanding about numbers and letters, and some have never been given a book to look at. Materials such as the bean bags, books, puzzles, and the rug will be used on a daily basis and give students more variety in their learning. These materials are age appropriate for my students and will allow students to better recognize their letters and numbers in a variety of games and center activities.

Many of my students come from young, broken family homes which does not give much support for their learning. For many, the learning takes place at school. As a teacher I feel it is important to give students an opportunity to succeed and a great place for that to happen is in an age appropriate classroom.
