My Project
We would like to incorporate agriculture in the classroom. We had a mobile field trip where the students were able to plant a sunflower seed. They loved it. My goal is to have a planter for each 3rd grade classroom. This will expose them to agriculture and how to plant vegetables at home. Many of our students live in town and do not have this opportunity. The excitement we saw when they were able to take a little cup home full of dirt was amazing. I would love the opportunity to do it larger scale and they can see the benefits of growing something edible.
Students will be able to learn the benefits of growing their own food while also comparing it to what they learn in Oklahoma history.
We have learned a lot about what Oklahomans grow, so this will be a great addition. Our school is also working towards starting a community garden.
