We have recently added a basic culinary component to the afterschool program at our middle school. In order to expose our young scholars to a variety of cooking techniques and cuisines, we need the tools that will aid our instruction. Our school does not have resources to provide significant instruction, or to cook or house our materials. The mini refrigerator, various small appliances, and cooking tools are essential to creating a meaningful, cohesive culinary experience. We also would like our students to understand sanitary practices in the kitchen so the gloves and aprons will assist with that.
Many of our students have little to no experience in the kitchen, and we would love to foster a love for healthy, easy-to-make meals they can share with their families.
Our seventh and eighth graders are sometimes tasked with feeding younger siblings because many adults in their homes work late shifts, and sometimes multiple jobs. Teaching them how to provide a nutritious simple meal for their family members is a life skill they will be able to use for the rest of their lives. Please help us provide our students with the tools needed to be successful!
