Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is fortunate enough to have Feminine Hygiene Emergency Stations in every one of the girls' restrooms across our campus, but, since we have so many stations and so many female students, we need to constantly refill them.
This project will provide community service opportunities to our different student organizations on campus and directly impact our own school!
Menstrual cycles do not make it easy for our female students to have a positive, mental health environment. Menstrual cycles also bring a barrage of other self-awareness issues that conflict with girls' mental health and wellness.
A great friend of mine and of schools everywhere, Two Smart Bunnies, enlightened my awareness of our school's female students' hygiene needs, and those needs don't ever stop.
They shared, "Middle school can be awkward for girls. It would be great if all the girls' bathrooms and the nurse's office had free feminine hygiene products available for girls. It would be one less worry for them. It's such a crucial need."
So, with your help, our student organizations can do community service by refilling our stations across our school with feminine hygiene products so that our females have access to them exactly when they need them most. All this will be made possible because of donors like you and my dear friend.
I am a SPED teacher, but, SPED or not, female students need these items. I hope I can connect our female students' needs with the incredible donors here!
