My Students
I am a special education teacher for students with disabilities in 10th - 12th grades. My students' disabilities range from mild/moderate to severe with a variety of intellectual and physical impairments. At our school, we have an inclusive special education program where students with disabilities are able to attend many of their classes with their same-aged non-disabled peers. We also have classes for our students to work on their own specific goals. Our students work together on social goals.
Our students are inquisitive, energetic, and have a love for learning new things.
It is exciting to watch them learn and grow and try new things.
My Project
Students in special education, more than any other learner, need to be given opportunities to use all of their senses when learning something new. These students require specialized instruction tailored for their individual needs.
We do not have a specific curriculum that we follow to teach in our classroom.
Each student has unique and individual needs and we have to find resources to help us provide them with specialized instruction.
Teachers Pay Teachers lessons have been shown to boost motivation, enable engagement, strengthen cognitive skills, improve short-term memory, and make learning more fun. The greatest impact is on communication skills and social interaction both of which are very important skills for students with special needs. This amazing resource provides us with affordable lessons to meet the individual needs of our special education students. This resource is full of ready made materials that are engaging and tailored to meet specific needs and goals.
