This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Sometimes, the kids who require the most love and attention ask for it in unexpected ways. These kids struggle without additional support. Our program gives these students, who are often dismissed as "bad kids" or "trouble," the love and support they need to begin repairing relationships, learn new skills, and access their education. We see the effects of COVID-19 in elementary students as they age, such as deficits in academics, but the population's social/emotional needs are becoming more evident each year. Our program's capacity is growing with our success, and hopefully soon we will be able to support all students who need it, and not require things to get BAD before they can get the help they need.
