AFA Cyber Security Summer Camp for Upcoming CyberPatriot Competitors!

My Students

My students are a diverse group of kinesthetic learners that range from sixth to eighth grade. They are smart and challenging members of the STEM Academy in our Title I school, where nearly 85% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunches.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and have a multitude of ability levels.

In order to meet the needs of all of my students, while increasing the critical thinking and collaboration skills needed for twenty-first-century learning, we are cultivating meaningful hands-on activities to engage students in science and STEM.

My Project

Air Force Association's CyberCamps are designed for high school and middle school students who are just getting into cybersecurity or who have cybersecurity knowledge and want to learn more. Camps are hosted by approved organizations and institutions that register with the CyberPatriot Program Office. These organizations include but are not limited to Air Force Association's Chapters, schools, universities, CAP squadrons, companies in industry, boys and girls clubs, etc.

We currently have 3 CyberPatriot Middle School teams that are ranked 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the state of Florida and this training will allow students to learn directly from the Air Force!

Air Force Association's virtual CyberCamps are held during specified weeks between June and August each summer. The camps are designed to be conducted over five days – Monday through Thursday, consisting of approximately 4 hours of instructions each day, while Friday is reserved for the CyberPatriot competition. Students only will go into the classroom and learn virtually from CyberPatriot instructors!

The curriculum kit consists of four instruction modules and information to conduct the competition on the fifth day, accompanying instructor guide, student workbooks, and demonstration software that the students will use to follow along with the instructions.
