This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) can strike anyone, anytime, even in a school setting. According to the American Heart Association, over 7,000 children and teens experience SCA each year, often without warning or known heart conditions. Without immediate intervention, survival rates drop by 10% for every minute that passes without defibrillation. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) dramatically increases survival chances, up to 70% when used within the first few minutes. For a growing school like EPLA, having an AED is not optional; it is essential.

When cardiac arrest happens, every second matters.

Emergency responders may take precious minutes to arrive, but an AED on campus could mean the difference between life and death before help arrives. With hundreds of students and staff on campus each day during classes, sports, and school events, a single device becomes a silent guardian, ready to act when a heart stops. It’s not just a machine; it’s a moment of hope when time is running out.

Currently, EPLA does not have an AED on site. That means in the event of a cardiac emergency, our community is unprotected. Your contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to protecting the lives of our students and staff. Help us equip our campus with the power to save lives.
