Adventuring With Dungeons & Dragons for Literacy & Math Skills
Help me give my students dice for playing D&D, campaign books to help them play the game, and resin to print their figures, as well as maps to play on with those figures.
I am the school librarian for a campus of three high schools in Brooklyn. For a decade, our campus had no library or librarian, and the space was left to fester. Now, I have been brought in to bring the space back to life since our renovation is done.
Our students are bright, hard-working, and in need of engaging material.
This project is for our Dungeons & Dragons Club!
My Project
Research shows that Dungeons & Dragons helps to build literacy, math, and social skills in young adults. Our students advocated heavily to play this game over the past few years, and played voraciously during the pandemic. Now that we are back in person, it has been a great way for our young people to reconnect.
Our students need materials to help them play in person.
This includes dice, game boards, and game manuals. Because we also use this club to learn about 3D printing and design, we need more resin to print the students' characters and the creatures they encounter.
