Adventures Through Literature

My students need CD players and headphones to allow them to access the classroom audio book collection and technology. This will help make lessons more interactive.

My Students

We need your help! The first grade classroom technology is in disrepair and unreliable. As we try to make our lessons more meaningful for all of children, we have noticed technical difficulties. We have a collection of audio books, and we want to make the students' use of these resources effortless.

The students in my classroom come from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.

Our school is an inclusive setting that teaches students with disabilities in the same classrooms with students who are typically developing. The students love learning together and need the opportunity to share skills. The students are a diverse learning community that work very well together. Inclusive education means that children who reflect the demographics of the surrounding regions "including children who develop typically, children with special needs and children who are gifted," learn side by side. My school's model allows for the individual needs of each child to be addressed in a manner that enhances each child's' strengths while also addressing their individual learning needs.

My Project

CD players and headphones would create a learning environment that is able to meet the diverse needs of the children in the classroom. Many times curriculum is delivered in a visual way. CD players and headphones would add the auditory component to a lesson, meeting the needs of our auditory learners. Providing literature that is paired with words and audio will make reading more accessible for the students. It can also help encourage reading fluency and reading development for our beginning readers. This project would help foster reading fluency and development in my first grade classroom through the use of CD players and headphones. Being a fluent reader is such an integral part of being a successful lifelong learner. To encourage reading, we must first start by motivating the children. I would like to help motivate and encourage literacy through this technology. My students need a audio books to support their literacy development. Help Mrs. Nodal her other classroom projects

Becoming a reader is a new and exciting time in a child's life.

It is a time that can be full of struggle and for others a time of great successes. With this technology we hope to create successes. CD players and headphones would allow for easier access to all of our audio books and literature. Providing them with functioning technology to use all of our valuable resources would be an asset to our learning community. It will also allow for us to create lessons that are engaging and exciting.
