Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like to be able to explore and do experiments that enhance your learning? My students have been very limited to the amount of experiments that we have been able to do in our class because we lack the safety supplies and materials to give them these experiences.
Our school is a K-5 elementary school in California with very diverse families and backgrounds.
We have three different programs running at our site. We Gate, bilingual, and conventional. My students are in the Gate program and are very creative, bright, and inquisitive when it comes to their education. They like to experiment with new ideas and concepts.
My Project
We need the goggles, cylinders, and forensic kits to be able to explore scientific concepts. With these supplies I will be able to help my students to investigate scientific concepts in a safe way and use correct tools with our exploration. My students will be able to protect themselves with the goggles and use the cylinders to measure out substances accurately.
Also, we will get to take a look at real life applications with the forensic science kits of finger printing and chromatography. We will see how these concepts relate to real life situations. We can take our new learning further and investigate other areas of our curriculum to see correlations and how we can apply our new knowledge to our future.
By donating to this project my students will be offered experiences that they normally would not be able to participate in.
This will impact their learning experience and help them with successful endeavors in their future by having the background knowledge of scientific concepts.
