My Project
I absolutely love my students’ excitement and curiosity when it comes to reading. They are always eager to dive into stories, explore new characters, and share their thoughts about what they’ve read. Watching their eyes light up as they connect with books is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.
The books I’m requesting, Mercy Watson: Something Wonky This Way Comes, and Leroy Ninker Saddles Up, will provide my students with engaging, humorous, and heartwarming stories to enjoy together.
Having class sets will allow every student to hold their own book during read-aloud and small group discussions, creating a shared and immersive reading experience. These books will help improve their comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency while fostering a love for literature.
My goal for this project is to build a community of readers in my classroom. These stories will not only enhance their literacy skills but also encourage meaningful conversations and connections as they discuss themes, characters, and story events with their peers.
What makes my students special is their resilience and eagerness to learn. Many of them are emergent bilinguals mastering a new language, yet they approach reading with enthusiasm and determination. These books will inspire and empower them as they grow into confident, lifelong readers.
