Adventure Physical Education

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember your Elementary/Middle school Physical Education classes? Same old boring games? Some people may have had a fantastic Physical Education experience, while others probably not so much. I happen to work in an inner city school, with over 500 students, where the population comes from a very diverse and sometimes challenging backgrounds. All of my students come to P.E. excited and ready to move, we are trying to provide all students with the lifestyle skills to lead a physically active life outside of school.

My Project

Can you picture the students' faces when they see their gym transformed into the ultimate obstacle course?

We want to give students an alternative to the same old games in Physical Education.

We also want to the students to able to learn skills that will benefit them for a lifetime and encourage them to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The crawl tunnels, hula hoops, and soccer balls will all be utilized in tailoring the ultimate obstacle course for all ability levels. These items give us flexibility to construct the course to make challenging, but at the same time giving the students the opportunity to be successful. American Ninja Warrior, Tough Mudder, and Spartan Race have brought obstacle course racing into the national spotlight. By introducing students to obstacle courses at a young age, they will be more likely to try one at an older age. The whole goal is to prepare our young students for healthy living and it doesn't mean you have to be involved in a team sport.
