This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I school with a population of 94% of students on free/reduced-price lunch and 74% of students as English-language learners. Our students are future presidents, mayors, scientists, mathematicians, and even teachers. We have the honor to teach in such a diverse district that values each other as family. Our students are inquisitive learners who love learning through the act of real-life experiences. They are curious of the new experiences they are about to learn in a safe and nurturing environment.

My Project

The field trip activity ties directly into the students’ academic learning in science, writing, and reading. The students will be doing the research before the visit, and will use their writing and reading skills in order to collect information about different animals they will see on the trip. Once students are on site, they will extend their learning by observing and experiencing the animals in real life. At the fossil hunt activity, students will be using different scientific tools to investigate, observe, and compare their findings. They will also get to interact with some of the animals. At the end of the field trips students will write about their favorite part of the field trip.
