Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The materials in this project are to restock our classroom library with interesting and exciting books in Spanish and English. Some of these materials are also book club sets for students to read and discuss in small groups. For example, The One and Only Ivan is a highly recommended book for 4th graders. Although we have copies in Spanish, I would like my students to also be able to read it in English.

My goal is for my students to have access to high-quality and relevant books to learn essential 4th-grade reading skills.

The materials in this project will also support students' writing and bilingual language acquisition. My students have been using English dictionaries to support their spelling. I've included Spanish-English dictionaries to further support my students who are learning English as a second language. This will be an important resource for every student in my classroom to be able to develop their writing in both languages.
