My Students
I love my students! They are hardworking and dedicated student musicians that LOVE TO SING! With the adversities that we are facing as a campus (We just moved mid year to another campus because our school was in a very bad condition), they still find a way to come to class with positive outlooks.
My students truly exemplify perseverance inspire of their daily surroundings!
I am truly blessed to be teaching such a great group of students. My students are made of mostly economically disadvantage students who come from all walks of life. Some with 2 parents and some without a single parent in their home. The one common thread that brings us together is the love of music!
My Project
This is my first year at a South Oak Cliff High School. As I build this choir program, one of my biggest challenges is having my choir n all in class together. In fact, some of my students can not get into my class because of scheduling issues. We have a by any means necessary mentality. So, we rehearsa after school and anytime we can, but it is hard to teach students who I don’t see on a regular basis. Because of that, I have resorted to creating rehearsal tracks for my students to practice on their own. That way, when we do get everyone in the same room, we will be full prepared. I also have students getting ready for auditions who need to record their audition tapes for different colleges and universities. The microphone, Scarlett interface, which helps connect the mic to the computer, and the mic stand will help my students by giving them the necessary tools needed to work in their college audition tapes. They will also give me the tools necessary to record their rehearsal tracks for extended learning.
