it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a Spanish Dual Language Immersion Kindergarten teacher, my goal is to nurture young readers who thrive in a bilingual environment. I am seeking support to enroll in the "The Reading Process" professional development course from UC San Diego. This course will enhance my understanding of literacy acquisition, equipping me with research-based strategies to improve reading outcomes for my students.
This professional development opportunity dives deep into the cognitive, linguistic, and social factors influencing how children learn to read.
By understanding these elements, I will be better prepared to support my students as they navigate learning to read in two languages, ensuring they build a strong foundation for academic success.
The strategies and insights gained from this course will enable me to create targeted lesson plans that address individual student needs, fostering a love for reading while promoting bilingual literacy. The tools and knowledge I acquire will directly translate into classroom practices that benefit not only my current students but future cohorts as well.
