My students need the Pop and Add to 12 game, magnetic numbers and counters, and numbers & counting light-up activity center to help them grasp basic addition and subtraction.
My students come to school because everyday is a day to become a better person. My students are 4-, 5- and 6-year-olds who are very eager to learn. Most of them come from a low income families with only one parent who is struggling to hold the family together. They struggle academically, have emotional and social challenges, and many suffer from family issues that's out of their control. They live in a neighborhood where two-thirds of family household income is below the federal poverty threshold and resources are not available for them.
My Project
My students love playing games and having hands-on activities that focus on math basic skills. My students will use the Pop and Add to 12 game, magnetic numbers and counters, numbers and counting light up activity, how long is it measuring center, measurement light up activity center and the geoboards activity center to explore their abilities through building shapes, counting, measuring, adding, and subtracting.
These materials will be used during daily center time, as well as throughout the day while learning about basic math skills.
They will be able to use these manipulatives during whole group instruction, as well as independently or with a small group.
Your generous donation to this project will help improve my kindergarten classroom by building stronger mathematicians. This project will also help build self-esteem in my students as it will help them feel successful and want to learn more!
