This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students and I are always looking for ways to expand the school store! These sublimation and resin materials will be used in a multitude of ways! Students in our Fashion Merchandising Class will be creating a product (they come up with and design) to sell for our class business using resin and sublimation as the core base. The sublimation setup and resin tools will give them a ton of opportunities to design resin keychains and ornaments or sublimation keychains, earrings, and ornaments... or anything they can think of!

In class students will use the silicone molds mix the resin, dye it, and create their projects while learning about marketing, art and science.

We are asking for silicone so that the resin will not harden to the measuring cups and we can reuse them each day unlike glass or metal measurers. Students will use the Epson printer as a sublimation printer with the sublimation ink. They will design products in photoshop and transfer those designs over to coffee mugs, ornaments, earrings, t-shirts, bookmarks, etc as they learn about fashion merchandizing and consumer demand. The calibration monitor will help them know if they are choosing the exact colors they are intending so that their designs print in the exact color and hues than they were expecting. The vinyl will give them more options for their store designs. The Cricut mats will help them attach their designs to be cut out perfectly in the classroom Cricut we already have.

I've also noticed in our art/resin design classes has an element of social-emotional learning. In the same way coloring calms the mind, these resin and sublimation activities do the same because students have to concentrate on what they are doing and therefore, they cannot be focusing on any stress in their lives.
