Adding Fun Math and Language Activities to Enhance My Centers!

My Students

I see our students as the little caterpillar from the story "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" written by Eric Carle. Preschool is the first school experience for our students and they come to us excited to learn and grow. As we teach them new concepts and they experience new themes and academic concepts, they continually grow into beautiful butterflies, ready and prepared to fly into kindergarten.

Our class consists of 20 students from diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses.

We service students identified with specials needs, students with English as their second language, and students who are peer models.

Our school is located in the urban school district of Cleveland, OH where 100% of our students are on free or reduced meals.

My Project

An integral part of a preschool classroom is center time and play. Children learn best through playing. By providing my students with updated math and language manipulatives I can enhance their learning through fun.

Did you know it takes 400 repetitions of an activity for our brain to learn a new skill?

However, a child can learn a new skill with just 10 to 20 minutes of playing. This means that if I can provided updated activities for my students to play with they can learn new math and language concepts through exploration and play.

The best thing about being a preschool teacher is exposing my students to so many academic concepts with fun, well planned activities!
