Remember sitting in hard desks as you learned? What if you worked in a classroom that looked more like a coffee shop?
My students are 9th through 12th grade science and technology explorers.
My students attend school in a small, rural area. Most of my students are sons and daughters of ranchers. They are hardworking, dedicated, and curious about the world around them. They love enhancing their learning with new technology and experiencing the newest technology trends. They are fairly tech savvy as they are 1:1 with laptops and do science in a blended-gamified learning environment.
My Project
Our classroom is far from traditional. Students work in a 1:1 blended learning environment. They move through the curriculum at their own pace and work towards mastery before moving on. Since our classroom routine is non-traditional, our seating arrangement is also non-traditional. We have futons, bean bag chairs, a coffee table, carpet, and ottomans. However, after much use, our bean bags have gone flat. What used to be a fun environment to sit in now requires the piling of bean bag chairs to get comfy.
Donations to our classroom project would allow my students to use the resources put in place to match our learning environment.
It would help us achieve the learning environment we had at the beginning of the school year again.
