This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have seventeen bilingual kindergarten students who love singing, dancing, and learning about their world. For the majority of them, kindergarten is their first school experience. Most of my students qualify for free lunch while the remainder qualify for reduced-price lunch. While all my students speak Spanish as their native language, they come to me with unique backgrounds and experiences.
My students are inquisitive and eager to absorb new knowledge.
They learn from each other as much as I learn from them in the short nine months we have together.
My Project
At the beginning of the year in literacy stations, students are writing their name, finding words they know, or even tracing letters to form words. I print everything in black and white as I do not have access to a color printer.
Your donation will bring a splash of color into my kindergarteners' lives.
My students need and deserve color in their lives. Washable paint will be used for holiday projects and markers to add details to their drawings. Students practice reading their word wall words on neon index cards. Printed on colorful cardstock will be the letters of the alphabet, which can also be used to sort letters in their name. White erasers will help students erase their mistakes and highlighter tape will bring attention to the beginning letter of a word during literacy stations.
