Add Color To Biology Class

Help me give my students a Color Printer for printing colored pictures for my science classroom.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Paul's classroom raised $395

My Project

Students pay more attention to handouts when printed in color. They also love to print colored pictures for their projects. My students in my Biology and Chemistry class are required to do projects. Projects also require pictures to be posted. I do not have a class printer. My students cannot afford a printer. When they ask me to print their pictures or diagrams for their project I use the school's black and white printer. Pictures coming out of the black and white are not clear and it is hard to distinguish between different parts of the picture.

Color is a powerful tool, which has many uses in education.

It can be used to get attention, enhance clarity, establish a code, label things in nature, and differentiate items. A Color Printer will be able to help print in color. We have seen that while showing the differences between two or three concepts teachers generally make use of colored chalk to make the differences prominent. Furthermore, in the classroom, the writing board is often black in color so that white color will be easily visible, and now with the advent of whiteboards, more colors can be used on the board. Another example can be the use of a highlighter to mark an important piece of information in a textbook. So colors used in the classroom can enhance learning and benefit us in a number of ways.

Research has proven that color draws on both symbolic and cognitive powers to affect learning, facilitating memorization and identification of concepts. Color also influences the way we see and process information; it can improve our ability to remember both words and pictures.
