This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We believe that every student, no matter what, should have the chance at college success! Many of the students in our college-prep school would be left behind in other educational settings. Luckily, at Impact Academy, they are buoyed up by educators with the passion to ensure success.

Our students come from families who are hoping to see their children be the first to graduate from college.

In our Learning Center, we are charged with the task of ensuring ALL of our students have a chance at college success, including our students who are in need of extra help. One of the ways we do this is through the use of adaptive technology. Currently, we rely on the use of students' own cell phones or on websites. Although educationally useful, phones and the internet are frequently a huge distraction for our students.

My Project

Our students need mp3 players, with a charging station and headphones, to help them accomplish a variety of tasks: 1. listening to books on tape as they read along in college-prep texts, 2. creating and listening to "study playlists" which will help them focus on the work at hand without being distracted by You-Tube videos and ads, 3. recording and reviewing classroom lectures, 4. recording their own speeches and presentations and reviewing their own voices to reflect and improve, 5. finding motivation through the use of a tech device as an incentive.

With your donation we are confident that our students will receive an equitable education and a real shot at college success.

With mp3 players, our students will not only build vital skills, but also develop college-bound habits and mindsets that will help them make their way through college and become the first in their family to graduate. Thank you for your support!
