My Project
I have the opportunity to teach and influence students that are very special to me. My Adaptive Physical Education class includes students of all levels with and without physical or intellectual disabilities. The students work together helping everyone to get stronger and be healthy.
Adding scooters to my class hits all of my goals of keep students active while having fun, and collaborate with peers.
There are many different games to help enjoy the workout and stay engaged while using scooters. The scooters allow students with disabilities to be on a similar level as everyone else in the class. When sitting on a scooter many different muscles are used.
I have seen a peer leader help a student, that uses a walker, get onto a scooter. During the game, both of these students were able to benefit by using muscles to move and improving self confidence. The whole class had smiles on their faces. Adding fun PE equipment will be a great addition to our program.
