My Project
In my classroom of 2nd-5th graders with various abilities, core academics only take up a fraction of our day. We have many times in our schedule devoted to the explicit teaching of social, life, safety, and communication skills. A lot of this is done through social stories. The most engaging type of social stories are in the form of adaptive books - interactive books made to fit a student's individual needs. Aside from adaptative books for social stories, we also use adaptive books to make literacy time more interactive, engaging, and accessible.
Adaptive books provide students with an accommodating and engaging way to access social stories and literacy.
These Teacher Pay Teachers gift cards will allow me to purchase various teacher-created adaptive books through TPT. The remaining gift card amounts will be used to purchase Boom Cards for social skills (such as problem-solving and conversation-starters) and file folder activities that align with each of my students' specific learning goals.
