This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project is designed for special education students in grades 9–12 and aims to foster empathy, spark meaningful discussions about equity and inclusion, and inspire a deeper appreciation for the vital contributions of Black individuals throughout history and in modern society. By blending engaging fiction and informative nonfiction texts, students will explore both historical and contemporary narratives that highlight resilience, innovation, and activism. Additionally, the project connects these themes to the science and human impact of climate change, helping students understand the global issue through a lens that emphasizes personal stories, community perspectives, and social responsibility.
