FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Del Palacio's classroom raised $155

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class has a wide range of abilities and each student has different needs to be addressed. I want to be able to provide more interactions during story time for my non-verbal students as well more manipulatives. I also would like to provide my students with more sensory items.
They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even though they don't know it yet.
They are the future, and I want to give them the best start I can in school.
My Project
My class loves adaptive books. They are more engaging for my students as well as helping to target so many critical language skills. Many adaptive books allow students to feel successful and part of the book because they have to add or move pieces within the story. Adapted books can vary in skill level and be used for a wide variety of students with different skill sets and literacy skills. In beginning, adapted books are often repetitive in nature which helps to increase student participation and the repetition helps with retention of new information. Many times there are pictures associated with the vocabulary terms so it provides those extra visual supports to help with understanding and comprehension of the verbal message.
