My Project
This project is very important to me. Some of my students have physical limitations that prevent them to access different art materials. They are unable to activate play items or toys on their own. Having these items will help my students be included in the classroom during activities.
I would love for all of my students to feel included when creating different art projects or engaging in play.
Given these different art tools in this project, they will be able to engage in drawing, painting, coloring, writing and so much more. My students want to feel included and contribute to the classroom. Engaging children in art is a great way to encourage language with peers. It builds their confidence, helps problem solve, facilitates critical thinking and helps with social interactions. These materials such as adapted foam grips will help my students hold art utensils that is typically difficult due to their physical limitations. Switch adapted toys are crucial for individuals with disabilities, especially those with significant physical limitations, as they provide a pathway to independence, enjoyment, and learning. These modified toys allow individuals to interact with their environment and experience the joy of playing, which can boost confidence, engagement, and cognitive stimulation. Many toys are limited, so having the tools, such as the drill set and mono jacks, will allow me to expand on the amount of toys available and create my own switch adapted toys for my students.
My ultimate goal for this project is to create an inclusive environment for all of my students.
