Activities to Make Reading Fun

Help me give my students a variety of literacy activities that will help support their learning. Hands on activities makes learning more engaging and meaningful.

My Students

The kindergarten and first graders that are at my Title I grade level school are very curious and eager to learn. They come from varied backgrounds but all are excited about school. I am the reading specialist at my school and I am responsible for providing reading interventions to students who are struggling with learning to read as well as providing support to teachers so they can find success with teaching their students to read in their classrooms.

Due to Covid and limited instruction time last year, many of the students at my school are entering kindergarten and first grade with much lower abilities than in the past.

I would like to get a variety of literacy activities that could be used with the students that I work with. We have many high school students who choose to be tutors with our students and these literacy activities will be easily used by these tutors.

My Project

Due to Covid and limited instruction time last year, many of the students at my school are entering kindergarten and first grade with much lower abilities than in the past.

These literacy activities will support students in being proficient in many Nevada Academic Content Standards as well as preparing them to be successful readers.

These activities will be easily implemented with students by myself as well as high school tutors who work with students at my school. They will also provide fun and engaging way for students to practice their reading skills.
