Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Puzzles are a great form of enrichment for kids. They support cognitive, emotional, and motor development. Puzzles and certain activities are excellent for first graders because they promote learning through play, which is developmentally appropriate at that age. Many puzzles and games reinforce early math, reading, and logic skills—like counting, recognizing patterns, or sounding out words. First graders are still developing their ability to concentrate, and puzzles help them practice sticking with a task. Games teach important social skills like taking turns, following rules, and cooperating with peers. Solving a puzzle or winning a game provides a sense of accomplishment, which builds self-esteem. Kids are more likely to engage with material when it’s part of a game or puzzle, leading to better retention and motivation.
