Help me give my students items to start recycling at my school; recycle stickers, rolling cart, books about recycling, and a stand to share their presentation with peers in the hallway!

My Students

My students are really special to me for many reasons. I have a wonderful group of students who come from diverse backgrounds that make them unique. Being engaged in their own learning is crucial for ensuring their success. For example, I know that they learn best through active and meaningful experiences that they can connect across the content areas and to their own experiences. Learning by doing is essential for us because it is so highly motivating.

Unfortunately, most of the enriching experiences my students encounter are within the school walls because my students live in high poverty situations.

I strive every day to make school fun and meaningful for my precious students while providing them with a close classroom community in which they feel safe. They deserve the very best!

My Project

My students asked me this week, "Why don't we recycle?"My only answer was to tell them that there was nobody to pick up the recycling from our classrooms. My students were not happy with my response and wanted to bring a change to our school!

My third grade students want to use their voice to bring a change to our school's lack of recycling!

They have come up with their own plan to start a recycle pick-up from each classroom. Using a rolling cart they will visit the classrooms in our building and take out the recycling that is identified by the recycling green stickers.

They are determined to make our school aware of the importance of recycling and how to make a change in the world, even while they are still young. They have decided to create a presentation on the importance of recycling using our class iPad and want to display the presentation in our school hallway on a stand. They want to spread awareness on a cause that they feel passionate about!
