Active Seating for Active Learners

My students need 10 Air Stability Wobble Cushions so that they can wiggle and work at the same time.

My Students

Imagine being 7 years old and having to spend the majority of your school day sitting in a chair. It's hard to do! My second graders have limitless amounts of energy and are constantly in motion. They kneel, squat, sit cross-legged, and rock in their chairs all day long.

I have 24 enthusiastic and creative second grade students.

They love coming to school and are eager to learn. Our school includes students from pre-k to eighth grade. It is a Title 1 school, which means that many of my students' families are living below the poverty line. Approximately 85% of the students receive free lunch.

My Project

Our current classroom chairs are hard plastic and are uncomfortable to sit on for long periods of time. My students have a lot of energy and are constantly moving around in their seats. This excess energy makes it very difficult for them to focus on their work. These wobble cushions will sit on the classroom chairs like regular chair cushions. Not only will they make the seats more comfortable for my students, but they will also allow them to wiggle while they work. Being able to release this excess energy will allow my students to concentrate more during class, which will lead to more learning.

These wobble cushions will do wonders for my students!

The active seating these cushions provide will allow students who have excess energy to move while remaining focused and alert during instruction. This increased attention will result in an increase in learning.
