My Students
Our program serves children who are identified as at risk and children with identified disabilities or delays. My classroom currently is a mixture of children who are 3 and 4 years old. I have a very diverse group of students in my room—socioeconomically, ethnically, and linguistically—as well as multiple ability levels.
For most of my students, this is the first time they are away from home for an extended time each day.
I pride myself in creating a safe and comfortable environment for my little ones to grow and bloom.
I believe very strongly that play is the way the children in my classroom learn best. I also strongly believe that early intervention is the key to success for the children in my classroom. We spend the vast majority of our day exploring and playing. Of my 15 students, 11 are expected to move on to kindergarten in the fall.
My Project
We have a train / activity table that is the center of our classroom activities. I love this table and the creativity it inspires. We use it for trains, legos, puzzles, Ramps and Balls, doll house stuff, STEM Kits, small building blocks. We use it for everything! Not only is this table sitting at the literal center of our classroom, it is the center of learning of our classroom. Unfortunately, our activity table has seen way better days. It is very shaky and ready to fall apart. I would love to replace it in September so my new little ones can start off the year off with a new table.
