Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are a K through 8 school, and I have been working with the kids for 6 years. The curriculum books will help me know what to teach and in what order to teach them. They will guide me so that I will know how to teach physical education effectively, and the students will be better learners because it will be an organized class. The Heart Zones curriculum was being taught to them the last 2 years, but that teacher took the curriculum with him when he left. This curriculum really benefited our kids' health and endurance and enjoyment of the class, and I would love to be able to continue this. The other equipment gets used and worn out, so it would be great to have replacements so that each kid can have a resource to use not only during PE, but also during their recess time. The parachute, dodgeballs, hula hoops, jump ropes, and basketballs will teach the kids how to share and work as a team. My goal is to get the kids wanting to do more physical activities. They could also be proud of their new equipment and feel valued. Exercise dice would be a fun warm-up to start off our day. This is where we start off by rolling the dice to see what exercises we will do, which causes excitement about what they will land on. This ensures an exciting, happy, and engaging environment for our students, which makes the class fun, and they look forward to being at school.
