Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The standing desks, sensory strips, and mini ellipticals will give my students movement to keep their minds engaged and focused. There is research that shows that our ability to engage and focus is linked to physical activity, especially during tasks that may be challenging. My students have an individualized education program due to various learning needs, developmental delays, sensory needs, and behavioral needs.

These materials will keep their active, growing minds focused to persevere through challenging tasks with movement and choice!

Help give my students the choice of where they can be the most successful. Giving my students the choice of where and freedom to move around if they feel it necessary will teach them to understand their needs and use strategies to carry on in their lives. In addition, I am requesting a class coloring poster to use as part of our calming area. Students will be able to color parts of the poster when they need a quick break before returning to their tasks. Your support will help my students stay learning even when things get challenging, and learn that it takes time and effort- with a little bit of movement to make those gains!
