My Students

I teach a class full of bright, energetic, curious 2nd graders. My students come from diverse backgrounds and have different learning styles. For that reason, I am always looking for engaging lessons that reach the needs and learning styles for all my students.

My students are excited about learning, explaining their thinking, sharing what they know, and experiencing the world around them.

My students work hard and play hard. No matter what we are learning about, my students fearlessly dive into learning and give it their all.

My Project

A good education is more than knowing what 2+2 is. It's more than knowing how the moon affects the tides. It's more than knowing the different states of matter. While those concepts are definitely a part of the equation, a complete education also includes teaching students the importance of physical activity and making it a part of the school day. There are so many things students can learn outside of a classroom and onto the field or blacktop that are essential in teaching students to be a decent human being. Social skills, belonging to a team, communication skills, and working together are some of the important things you can learn through teams sports and exercise.

My students and I look forward to recess every day because we play sports, throw or kick a ball, or walk outside on the field TOGETHER!

I practice what I preach and show my students that we can grow and learn in different ways in and outside of the classroom. When I asked my students what materials they would like to have out on the playground, we conducted a survey and they wanted the pinnies so they can tell better who is on who's team. The various types of balls are the necessary equipment to engage in active play and it'll give them something fun to do and a chance to develop fine and gross motor skills. Often times, I hear "I'm bored, there's nothing to do." The flags will help square off a place for my students to play, since we have a small field, and the flags will alert others where the game is being played so they don't get hurt walking into the middle of a game. There truly is something for everyone to get active, up, and moving!
